Obituary For Alice Ellen Penfield

Alice Ellen Penfield, 81, born in Hartford, CT and resided in Fletcher, NC passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville, NC with her daughters by her side. She was the daughter of the late Albert Monsway and Alice May Gilpin Fyler. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Warren Fyler; four sisters, Lucille Fyler, Viola Motowidlak, Jean Tyrell, and Evelyn Grimm.

Alice was raised in Glastonbury, CT and lived most of her life in California. After retiring she lived in Alderson, WV, Durham, NC and Fletcher, NC.

Alice attended Old Greenbrier Baptist Church in Alderson, WV and Fletcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Durham, NC. She retired from Kawneer Co. as a HR Manager in Visalia, CA. She greatly enjoyed gardening, crosswords, Words with Friends, card games, and watching the New England Patriots. She loved spending time with family and friends and volunteering at the Alderson Thrift store while living in West Virginia.

Surviving to cherish her memory are two daughters, Kimberlee Privett and husband Chad of Richmond, KY and Lisa Adams and husband Sam of Fletcher, NC; grandchildren, Ashley and Lauren Bink, Noah, Andrew and Emily Adams; one brother-in-law, Art Tyrell of Enfield, CT; two nieces, Sandi Bartlett and husband David of Fort Mill, SC and Sharon Kinsley and husband Jeff of Denmark, ME ; three nephews, David Motowidlak of CT, Bruce Motowidlak and wife Liz of Glastonbury, CT and Richard Fyler and wife Teri of Kensington, NH; several cousins, and special friends, George and Jeanette Rideout of Middleton, RI.

Private services will be held at a later date.

    So sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She has struggled so much with the COPD. She was a fighter who enjoyed life. I didn't know her but she had to be a great lady because she raised a wonderful friend of mine (Kimberlee). Memories are made to remind us of important things, rely on them. May GOD be with this family
