Obituary For Christina Walker Shipman

Tina Walker Shipman, 48, found peace on Friday, September 24, 2021.

A native and lifelong resident of Saluda, she was a daughter of Rowena Metcalf Sweezy and the late Jerry T. Walker. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 18 years, Dwayne Shipman, who died in 2009 and her “Daddy,” Gene Sweezy.

Tina was of the Christian faith. She had a great sense of humor and was an avid crafter, but most of all, she loved spending her time as a mother and “Gammy.”

She will be truly missed by those she leaves behind: mother, Rowena Metcalf Sweezy and husband, Mike; children, Kayla Shipman Long and husband, Keith, David Shipman and girlfriend, Caitlyn Cooper, and Kristen Shipman; granddaughter, Delilah Storm; grandson on-the-way, Dwayne James; sister, Donnell Walker Hubbard and husband, Rick; and a number of other family members and friends.

A Celebration of Tina’s life will be held at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, September 29 at Midway Baptist Church in Columbus. Reverends Darrell and Mike Shipman, Tina’s brothers-in-law, will officiate. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the church. Due to the nature of her passing, the family requests that you wear a mask.

A private interment will be held at a later date at the Saluda City Cemetery, where Tina will be laid to rest next to her husband, whom she terribly missed and is with again.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Locks of Love ( a direct link is provided on the left-hand side of the page).

Kayla, David, Kristen, Donnell & Rowena, I am just heartbroken for all of you and for the loss of our Tina. We are all going to miss her terribly, but your loss is so profound. She is finally with Dwayne again... I always teased her about how mushy they were! If there's anything I can do, please let me know. My love and prayers. Susan Neal
