David Eugene Taylor, Sr., 81, of Swannanoa went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 22, 2021 at The Oaks at Sweeten Creek following a period of declining health. A native of Caldwell County, he was a lifelong resident of Western North Carolina. He was a son of the late Robert Lee and Esther Taylor and was also preceded in death by his brother, Roy Taylor and sister, Shirley Goodman. David was of the Baptist faith and was an avid Bible reader who could often be found studying the word, especially in his later years. He loved to play the guitar and sing, as well as playing golf and solving word searches. He had a great love for his children and grandchildren. David will be remembered as a man with a big heart, who was more than willing to give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He is survived by his children, Kathy Russell (Brint), David Eugene Taylor, Jr., Barry Helton (Christina) and Sheila Parrott (Marty); 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.
