We will have a reception afterwards in Riddick.

Below is an email shared by Dr. Alex Crowell to the TUNL Community summarizing Dr. Gary Mitchell's legacy during his tenure at North Carolina State University:

"Dear TUNL Community,
It is with a sad heart that we share the news that NC State and TUNL faculty member Professor Gary Mitchell passed away on Friday. Prof. Mitchell joined the faculty at NCSU and TUNL in 1968 and retired in 2009 after a long and illustrious career in the fields of statistical nuclear physics and fundamental symmetries. His lasting legacy will be the over 60 graduate students he supervised. In 2010, Prof. Mitchell was recognized by the Division of Nuclear Physics for his commitment to the education and training of his students. The citation for that award reads:

'For his inspired, untiring, and selfless mentoring of an exceptionally large number of students, of diverse backgrounds, from their student days throughout their careers; for his ability to see the differing needs, interests, and skills of every one, tailoring his approach to each as a unique individual and a colleague; for his extensive pro-bono mentoring of many who were not his students, enhancing further his lifelong record of devotion to the educational process.'

Professors Huffman and Gould will be arranging a remembrance for him at NC State in the near future."
