Obituary For Janes "Jim" Lewis Hamrick

Janes “Jim” Lewis Hamrick, 80, of Hendersonville passed away on October 21, 2021. Born in Rome, GA, to the late Charles Janes Hamrick and Elaine Dodd Bowman Hamrick he resided in Canton and Rome, GA, prior to moving to North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Hamrick.

Jim graduated from Georgia State University with a Master’s in Higher Education. He retired as a professor of Industrial Engineering at Southern College of Technology. He was a faithful alumnus of Berry Academy and a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Rome, GA.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 55 years, Nell Rossman Hamrick of Hendersonville, NC; a daughter, Leigh Hamrick Verm, and son-in-law, Alan Verm, of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Chase Hamrick, Katherine Elizabeth and Elizabeth Mae Verm all of Asheville, NC.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on January 8, 2022 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Rome, GA, with The Reverend John Herring officiating.

  • Jim is the half brother of Martha Louise (Hamrick) Arnold, my mother, which made him my uncle; only 7 years my senior. He was a great friend with whom I didn't get to spend nearly enough time. But the times we did get to spend together always provided great fun and fellowship. I will certainly miss my friend.
