Obituary For Norman Lee Campbell

Norman Lee Campbell’s wish to be with his Lord was granted on August 18, 2021 at his home near Hendersonville, NC while under the care of Four Seasons Hospice.

He was born in southern Illinois May 12, 1933, the son of Lela Marie Bullock and James Robbie Campbell and soon moved with his family to St. Charles, IL where he grew up with two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by one sister, Sharlene M. Coltharp of Aurora, IL. He served three years in the Coast Guard sailing the Atlantic Ocean, and manning the Milwaukee, WI Coast Guard Station. He spent 10 years with the City of St. Charles on the Board of Health and as the Director of Public Works. His next and final position was owner of a water works company in Carol Stream, IL from which he retired at age 51.

Norman is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, his stepsons, Gregory A. Johnson (Christine), Timothy D. Johnson (Kristin), Jeffrey N. Johnson (Judy); seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the Etowah United Methodist Church. Due to the rising COVID number there will be no reception afterward.

In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established with the Etowah United Methodist Church in his name. Donations may be made payable to EUMC and mailed to: PO Box 1268, Etowah, NC 28729, please note “Norm Campbell Scholarship” on the memo line of your donation.

    His smile says it all! Norman was gregarious, warm and most of all, genuine. He could walk in a room and immediately charm you because he was truly interested in you. We have so many great memories of time spent together as couples; traveling across the US and in each other's homes. We thank him for his friendship. Jesse and Karen Lawrence
