James T. “Jim” Frizsell, 88 of Pisgah Forest went to be with Our Lord after a long illness on June 12, 2021. He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Lyda and Brenda Dunlap; a son, Terry Frizsell; and ex-wife, Ruth Frizsell all from the Asheville area.
Jim is also survived by his wife, Jackie Frizsell; three stepdaughters, Terri Robertson of Hurricane Mills, TN, Traci McGuiness of Frisco, TX and Scotti Vaughan of Indian Rocks Beach, FL; two stepsons, Wesley Brown of Beaufort, SC and Kevin Brown of Pisgah Forest; numerous in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jim was born and lived in the Asheville area until he was transferred to the Gulf Coast in 1979, where he spent about five years. He then spent another 12 years in Beaufort, SC until he returned back home in 1995.
The things of which Jim seemed to be most proud was his work with the Booster Clubs while his children were in school, driving the Blood Mobile for the American Red Cross and assisting five nurses collecting blood all around WNC for five years. He also played and coached for Asheville’s semi-pro baseball team in the 60’s & 70’s. Jim also served on the Board of Directors for the Etowah-Horse Shoe Rescue and Fire Dept.
A celebration of his life will be held at Gashes Creek Baptist Church on July 31, 2021 at 2:30pm. The family will receive friends prior, beginning at 1:30pm. A memorial service will also be held early in the week of Thanksgiving at Etowah Baptist Church.
