Patsy Eugene Banister, son of Dozier and Juanita Banister, was born December 11, 1939 in Miami, Florida and grew up in Goulds, Florida. Living the majority of his days in Homestead, Florida working for Florida Power & Light and his retirement days in Lakeland, Florida enjoying the “golf life”, he lived his final six years in Hendersonville, North Carolina with his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Jo. Having just celebrated 80 years of life, Pat went home to his final resting place, Monday, December 23, 2019.
Pat was a proud father of two daughters, Robin and Michele, of whom he has held dear to his heart. His girls were from his first marriage of 20-years to Mary M. Banister-Tribble. Pat was a dedicated father, an honorable husband and a loyal friend to many. Past times he spent fishing, skiing, hunting, golfing, coaching, and enjoying old time rock and roll, country and 50’s music, dancing, building model airplanes and tv shows such as Magnum P.I., MacGyver, Matlock, The Andy Griffith Show, Jeopardy and The Wheel of Fortune. His life included playing football for South Dade High School, which included a scholarship offering from University of Miami, working with his dad as an Automotive Mechanic, serving as a Medic in the U.S. Army and then going on to work for Florida Power & Light, where he was held in high regards, until his retirement in 1999. His second marriage, of 40-years to Mary Jo Prewitt Banister took place in 1979. With this came an additional responsibility of being a step-dad to two boys, Randy and Joe, and two girls, Jamie and Julie.
He is survived by wife Mary Jo Banister, eldest daughter Robin Wilson, husband Robbie, along with their three children, Robert Andrew Wilson, wife Madison, their daughters Lovie and Lucky; Brittney Marie Filip and husband Derrick; Eric Michael Wilson, wife Debra and their daughter Paisley. Daughter Michele Sfakianos, her two children, Jason Coy Moore, wife Courtney and children Colton and Savannah; Jenna Nicole Ritter, husband Kevin and son Aaron. Step-children, Randy Chandler, wife Lori and their four children and seven grandchildren; Step-daughter, Jamie Lahger and her two children; Step-son, Joe Chandler, wife Tiffany and their two sons; Step-daughter, Julie Sherrill, husband Danny and their two sons.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 28th, 2019 at 2:30 pm, located at Berea Baptist Church, 626 Berea Church Road, Hendersonville, North Carolina 28739, officiated by Pastor Matt Metzger.
