Rebecca Edge Bideaux, 89, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 28,2021, at Givens Estates in Asheville, North Carolina. Rebecca was born Nov. 27, 1931, in Aberdeen, North Carolina to the late Hubert and Freda Edge. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Rene O. Bideaux, her only son, Charles Bideaux, and a sister, Louise Edge.
Rebecca, Becky to many, was devoted to the church, and she and her beloved Rene lived a life of service in the United Methodist Church. They served as missionaries in Costa Rica and in numerous churches in North Carolina and New England. A graduate of Meredith College, her professional skills as an administrative assistant landed her jobs at Harvard, Columbia, and Brown Universities as well as in the New York Bishop’s Office.
She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers and plants, especially African Violets. Gammy, as she was called by her granddaughters, cherished family gatherings and time spent with her loved ones. She adored miniature dachshunds, especially her faithful companion of many years, Lady Godiva.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Elise Beckstett (Doug) and Deborah Bideaux; three granddaughters Alexandra Tapp, Jessica Bideaux, Brittney Greenblatt, and Elise Gibbs; two great grandchildren, Chloe and Xavier and her brother, Hubert Edge.
