On January 20, 2020, Terry Lane Bratton left us to join his parents and twin brother Jerry. He was a talented musician and singer/songwriter. Born December 20,1954 to Weldon and Imogene Bratton, Terry loved jamming with his family and friends.
During the last few years, Terry worked in construction, but his lifelong passion was music. He was lead singer and played keyboard for the Southern rock band Lighting West in the 70’s and other bands throughout the years. He made many friends in his musical endeavors and enjoyed spending time with them. He was always ready to pull out his guitar or mandolin at family gatherings.
Survivors include his fiancée, Suzanne Royster of Mooresboro; brother, Robbie (Rita) of Green Hill; sister, Nancy Flowers (Charles) of Hickory; nieces, Heather Bratton, Carla Turkett (William), Katie DeBenedetto (Josh); nephew, David Flowers (Andrea); one great niece; two great nephews, uncle, Earl Scruggs; and numerous cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held 3pm on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at State Line Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:45pm.
Memorials may be made to State Line Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.

January 27, 2020 at 11:53 pmThey say people remember you by the last thing that you do, or the last thing that they know about you. That’s probably often true, but not every time. The thing I’ve heard said a lot about Terry since his passing is, “I always think of Terry smiling.”
Me too. He was always glad to see you. He was always wearing a smile. Always had a good word for you. Always ready to play music.
We all have our demons. Some worse than others it seems.
The way I envision Terry now is smiling, healthy, whole and playing music with Jerry and who knows who else. I don’t have that on authority, but it comes to me in a peaceful way every time I think about Terry now.
R.I.P., my friend. A lot of people loved you and still think about you and miss you.
Love, Jennifer Prince
